A few days ago we had a program with this guy named Tamás that we know from English class. He's a super cool kid. We were just talking and getting to know him a bit and he said he liked reading so we asked him what he liked to read. He said he reads from the Bible. He opened up to show us one of his favorite scriptures and it was John 8:7. This is when Christ tells the people that whoever is without sin to cast the first stone. The Spirit was so strong at that point in the lesson and we all felt like that program was more to teach us than it was to teach him. It was a really cool experience.
On Saturday morning the Hulberts took us to the Piac to get some Lángos. We also knew Enikő and Hajni's moms work there so we thought we would see if we could find them and say Hi! So I had my first lángos and it was really good. Basically this huge scone that we lathered in garlic and salt. It was delicious but I could just feel myself gaining weight and my arteries closing while I ate it haha probably will try and limit how often I eat those...So while we were at the Piac we did run into Enikős Mom and chatted with her about how great her daughter is. Then we saw Hajni and bought a few cute sewing things that her mom makes/sells at the piac. And then we got a bonus and ran into our investigator Péter there with his girlfriend.
Speaking of Péter we had a program with him that Saturday morning before we went to the Piac. Elder Hulbert came with us to the program and it was just so cool. We taught him the restoration and it was a really good lesson. Elder Hulbert spoke a lot and used the cool picture book to tell about the restoration. He was so impressed with Péter and how open-minded and polite he was. We told him how great the Book of Mormon is and invited him to read the introduction and just start reading in 1 Nephi which he said he would try. He's just such a cool guy and we've only had two programs with him but they were just such good programs. Hopefully he'll continue progressing.
We had two more programs with Enikő and once again they were really great programs. She is just so strong and faithful. You can tell she really has a strong testimony and can't wait to be baptised.
A funny story for the week: we were out tracting one day and we came to one house. We cséngő'd the house and a lady came out. We did our little intro and she said she wasn't interested. We asked her if there was anything we could do to help her and she kind of just stared at just like we were crazy. It was only for a few seconds but it was enough time that it was a little awkward haha she then started asking about what we were doing and asked if we got paid to do this but we told her we just did it voluntarily. Basically long story short she told us we should just go back to America. She was not pleased when she found out I had only been here for a month and had 15 to go. She talked to us for at least 20 minutes too about how we were too young and we shouldn't be here and we need to be saving for our retirement and should just go back to America.
The past few days I have decided start studying the Christlike attributes and focusing on one per week. This week I have decided to focus on Diligence. Its been really cool. I just was looking up scritpures from the Topical guide in the bible and BOM about diligence. I want to focus on being diligent in learning how to teach well and this language. It can be a little disheartening when you have no idea what people are saying and you feel like you aren't learning the language. But I know that with faith and diligence and the Lord's help, I will be able to learn it. It won't come all at once but I can already feel that I am starting to learn a little more every day and able to understand more of what people say. It will come. I just need to be diligent :)
Well I hope you are all doing well! Love you and miss you!! :) Thank you for all the emails! It is seriously one of the best feelings to log on once week and see emails from all your family and friends :)
