Well another week has already gone by! Time is a weird thing on a mission. Some days feel like weeks, but sometimes the weeks feel like just a day. But overall, it was another good week! Here are a few of the highlights from the week...
Tuesday, July 29
We met with our cute néni investigator on Tuesday, Edit Néni. She had a little tray with drinks and crackers set out for us. She just kept telling us how she felt like God had sent us to her and she felt like she had more energy and purpose now. She is the sweetest little lady!
Wednesday, July 30
Wednesday was a bit hard. But only because we had 3 of our 4 programs not come. So we did about 5 hours of streeting! We were absolutely exhausted by the time we got home! But it was good. We talked to a few cool people and gave out a lot of pass along cards. We also started a weekly District Language Study. It was so great! It is very helpful having a Hungarian in our District that can really help us with Hungarian! I felt like I was back in school/the MTC studying again and i felt like i learnt so much! The language is coming along slowly but surely!
Thursday,
Thursday was an adventure. We had to travel into Buda for interviews with the Mission President. We got to the train station and on the screen it said that the train was 35 minutes delayed. That worried us because we were planning to get into Buda just in time to hop on the metro and get over to the mission home. But the train still showed up on time so we thought "great!" But we stopped for a while at one point and did end up getting into Buda about 25-30 minutes late. We got off the train and literally ran from the train to the metro stop. We hopped on the metro with about 7 minutes to go until our appointment. When we got to our metro stop, we once again literally ran from the metro stop to the Mission Home. The hardest part i think was running up the insanely long escalator coming out of the metro stop. We were so exhausted by the time we made it to the Mission Home! But then I had a great interview with President Smith! I always love going into Buda. Such a cool city. Then after interviews we had about an hour till our train so we grabbed some lunch. Then we headed back go the metro station BUT there was a HUGE line to get metro tickets! We had to wait for a while and then ended up running again to the metro and running from the metro to the train! Sadly, we missed our train by ONE MINUTE. Luckily, there was another train in an hour so we went and got some ice cream and just waited. We ended up talking to some cool people on the train though and gave out some pass along cards! So maybe that was why we had to miss the train? :)
Friday, August 1
I can't believe it's August already! We had District Meeting which was good. I like spending time as a District and getting to know the other missionaries. We went to lunch afterwards all together at this typical Hungarian restaurant. We also had a few programs...one with Edit Néni :)
Saturday, August 2
Saturday was so fun!! There was a party in Kecskemét (about 3 hour bus ride away) for about 4 wards/branches in this area of Hungary. There were so many people there. Some members, some investigators and all of the missionaries serving in those areas. It was so fun to be able to see some of my missionary friends! We started playing soccer....but it got a little chaotic since pretty much everyone just all ran onto the field and it was about 20-25 people per team! Then there were a coupe of other games that we played and it was just so fun. It was so great for the members in Hungary to be able to get together and strengthen each other and see how the church really is growing here.
Sunday, August 3
Sunday was good. We went to church. We had a few investigators there so that was exciting! We had a good fast and testimony meeting. It's exciting when I can start to understand more and more of what the members say when they speak in church. Then Sister Whitakker and I went into the Young Women's class and there was a great lesson taught by one of the branch members about families. Afterwards we did some streeting and tracting for a few hours before we went home. Then we had a delicious home cooked meal by the Smiths, which was so kind of them to feed us!
As companions we decided to study a Christ Like Attribute each week (from Preach my Gospel). We just started with the first one this week which is Faith. In the Church we always talk about faith and how we can strengthen our faith. But as I was thinking about it this morning I was really wondering how I personally can strengthen my faith. We can all do the simple things like reading our scriptures, praying and going to church to strengthen our faith. In True to the Faith I read about faith and it said, "Whenever you work toward a worthy goal, you exercise faith." I loved that! If we do our part in working towards a worthy goal, Christ will make up the difference to accomplish the goal and our faith will be strengthened. We decided as companions to make a big weekly goal and to do our best each day to do our part to reach it.
I hope you all have a great week! Thank you to all who sent me emails and who are constantly sending love and prayers my way!
Sok szeretettel,
Simons Nővér xx
