Hi everyone!
I hope you all had a great week. This week went by fast.
Andrea
So my friend Elder Beaumont who served here called me a few weeks ago and told us about this lady that they had met with. So we tried and called her several times with no answer. So this past week we decided to go over and visit. She had actually just gotten home from work when we went over so she let us in. Her son tragically died about a year and a half ago and she is still struggling with that, understandably. She has another son too and a boyfriend. She is super nice but really sad. It was pretty loud and hectic the first time we went over.We were able to go back and visit her again last night. It was a small miracle too because last night, all the boys went into another room and we were able to just quietly talk with Andrea. Hopefully we can help her to feel some more happiness in her life!
Fast Sunday
Well, Sunday was my last fast Sunday in the country. Which was a weird thought. I knew it was my last chance to bear my testimony in Hungarian so I planned to get up. But of course as the time came I got nervous because I hate speaking in front of people! I was praying for the courage to just get up. Then, one of the young woman in the branch turned around and looked at me and kind of motioned that I should go up there. I am really glad she did that! It helped me to just not be afraid and get up. So I was able to bear my testimony for the last time in Hungarian.
Funny Story
So one night while we were tracting, we knocked on a door and this old lady opened it. She couldn't hear very well so she spoke really loudly. We told her we were missionaries and she said she wasn't interested but she respected us for what we were doing! She then preceded to talk for 20 minutes straight without taking a break haha I'm not going to lie...after about 10 minutes I lost track of what she was even talking about anymore. Then all of a sudden, she pulled down her pants. Yeah...pulled down her pants.... She showed us this...ball hanging off the side of her leg. It was so nasty haha I felt bad for her but I had no idea what she was talking about and it took everything in me not to smile and start laughing.
Friday Tabling
So on Fridays we go tabling with the members. This past Friday, someone started talking to this woman who was just sitting down. I hear my name being called over so I go over to them and Elder King was like, "she only speaks Spanish!" So I started trying to talk to her in Spanish. I struggled a little so I gave her a flyer and then walked away a little discouraged. After a minute I realized I was being dumb. She was still just sitting there by herself so I decided to go over and try to talk to her a little more. I sat down with her and we talked for about an hour! It was so cool! I understood everything she said, I just struggled a little to switch my brain from Hungarian to Spanish. But we were able to communicate just fine! Then some of the members came over to talk to her and then I translated from Spanish to Hungarian and back. That really tripped out my mind haha but it was really cool!
That morning I had been reading in Ether 12 about faith and all of the different things that the people in the Book of Mormon were able to do with faith. I know that with faith and with God's help, we can do anything. For example, only with faith and God's help could I learn Hungarian and be here teaching these people. And just with faith and Heavenly Father's help, could I somehow communicate with that lady in Spanish when I have lost a lot of my speaking ability. I have mentioned this before as about a year ago I realized I had lost a lot of my Spanish. But that is another test of my faith. Heavenly Father knows how much speaking Spanish means to me and I know that after my mission, He will help me get it back. :) I know that if we just trust in Him and have faith, we can do miracles!
I hope you all have a wonderful week. Thank you all for your support and prayers! See you in a month!
